Ageism is all around us, we all our attracted to looking young and viewing pretty young things. Experience seems to mean nothing in our “modern age”. I hear them say lets get some fresh new talent in and while I accept people can become jaded as they get older, people should be looking at why people become jaded and sort that out.
When I was in my teens I thought 40 was old, but that was just down to the fact that some people are born old and give the rest of that generation a bad rap. I look at myself and have I changed? I don’t think so. I still love the same things as when I was a kid, it is only the outside of me that is changed and life goes by far too fast, it rushes by.
Verse One
Its a rush, I find I am living in today
and its tough, I never thought it’d be this be this way.
I always thought I’d get some place.
I never dreamed, it would be this place.
I think its time, I’ve got facts to face, oh well.
Verse Two
What’s done is done and there’s nothing I can do to change,
the race is half done and I ain’t getting any place.
I think its time I got my head straight.
A new direction is it too late?
The race is running, I think I should turn up the pace.
Chorus
It’s a rush, but that’t the times we live today.
Some say you’re old by you’re 30. I know I used to feel this way,
but I ain’t dead and I won’t let go
and I certainly don’t feel so old.
Its a battle but I’m not letting go.
Verse Three
Yeah its a rush, yeah its society to blame.
Logan’s Run is on the box, is it a reflection of today?
When you’re young, you build your own cage,
then you find you need more space,
so where’s the key that lets you escape you cell?
Chorus
It’s a rush, but that’t the times we live today.
Some say you’re old by you’re 30. I know I used to feel this way,
but I ain’t dead and I won’t let go
and I certainly don’t feel so old.
Its a battle but I’m not letting go.
Mid
We’re in a trap that we can’t escape.
The year we’re born is our ball and chain.
How people judge us is on our birth date.
Oh well its what’s in our heads that counts?
Chorus
It’s a rush, but that’t the times we live today.
Some say you’re old by you’re 30. I know I used to feel this way,
but I ain’t dead and I won’t let go
and I certainly don’t feel so old.
Its a battle but I’m not letting go.
I’m not letting go.
