There have been so many good movies about vigianties, serial murders that continue to tap into our fear of the night and what may lie there. All these movies imply that the police were under manned, that even when they did arrest the killer, that he would walk free because of a technicality. We see it today, people literally getting away with murder. In our movies we have heroes to save us from the night, but when we go out alone in the night, can you hear the footsteps on the pavement, see shadows on the wall and does your imagination get the better of you. Do you feel afraid? It is scary how many people go missing every year, how many unsolved murders there are. Heed these words of warning, there is a killer in the dark somewhere!

Verse One
We hear on the news, it ain’t safe to go out.
You better lock yourself up, you better stay inside,
when it is dark, there’s nothing you can do.
Five million they say, frightened souls,
stay in their homes, never venture out into the dark.
They’re scared for their lives!

Chorus
Heed these words of warning,
there’s a killer in the dark.
Stay home until morning,
keep out of sight.
There’s a killer in the dark.

Verse Two
There are demons in the dark, their fingers itch to choke.
There are rapists out tonight, girls aren’t safe alone.
When it is dark, they say there’s nothing we can do.
The police are under manned, the courts, they tie their hands.
The killers walk free, regardless of our pleas

Mid
Footsteps on the pavement, shadows on the wall. I feel the fear.
The shutters close around me, the streets begin to empty. I know it’s near.
Angry voices chanting, the sickness of the city grows day by day.
We put our minds on heroes, I wish that there were heroes to save us from the night!

Chorus
Heed these words of warning,
there’s a killer in the dark.
Stay home until morning,
keep out of sight.
There’s a killer in the dark.

RECORDING NOTES

As dated as this may sound, I still love this old song that we recorded way back in 1989. This song has a similar feel to the song Hype we recorded it on an eight track Tescam using an Allen & Heath mixing desk. We had a Roland Juno, an Ensoniq Mirage Keyboard and a Yamaha RX5 drum machine. On backing vocals we have Paul Lynagh, Paul Moore, Tony Stewart & Karen Wood
