It was late at night, when this song popped into my head. I had just turned off my laptop after working on another song and getting ready for bed. Friday nights are not what they used to be, although it was the end of the working week. There was no going out partying, my wife Susie was at work for the night. It was going to be another lonely night. It is funny how hard it is to get to sleep when she is away.
It’s four a.m. and I can’t sleep
I got this feeling it’s a pain so deep
My mind won’t settle it keeps spinning round
I go in circles like a merry-go-round
I want your love, I want it now
I want your love, I want you now
Back when it started you were just some girl
You’re like a virus got the fever now
I turn over and I try to sleep But all I’m thinking is the way you feel
I want your love, I want it now
I want your love, I want you now
But I just lie awake, the night has drifted away and I feel so tired
Oh, and I just hate, for there’s no warm embrace in these lonely hours
I reach over and you’re not there
I can’t believe that life isn’t fair
If I could hold you, if I could touch you now
I would tell you how I feel, oh how
I want your love, I want it now
I want your love, I want you now
I want your love, I want it now
I want your love, I want you now
