This song came in a dream, which woke me, and I wrote it down. I think that this is the only song that I have written this way, sure I have had songs that come to me in dreams, but none other have I remembered enough to write down.
I love watching movies, from the black and white silent to todays. I especially like it when someone choses a song for how it fits with the emotions of the story line. What would the movie Highlander be without the classic Queen soundtrack? Many of the TV shows have introduced me to new artist by using their work in this way. Music is very good at ramping up the emotional content. I remember watching Miami Vice the TV show and hearing Phil Collins In the Air Tonight. In the same way I think that is why I like Bruce Springsteen, his songs I can close my eyes to, and it is if I am watching a movie. One of my favourite Springsteen songs is Meeting Across the River, I just love the lyrics and atmosphere of that song.
My song Don’t Let This Moment Leave us in comparison is much less dark, it is about young love, fear of commitment and yet not wanting the moment to end. I always imagine this song with the two people sat in one of those American cars with the bench seats that you see in movies set in the 1950s. Has this song any place in the world that we now live in? Still, some people are still romantic and frightened of relationships, so who knows.
Verse One
Her dark brown eyes are like holes in space,
they drag me in to her embrace.
I cannot fight, I can’t deny
what I’m feeling is strong tonight
Chorus
Don’t let this moment leave us,
don’t run from love tonight.
Don’t let this moment leave us,
don’t let it pass us by.
Verse Two
In my arms my dreams are laid,
sleeping softly as night invades.
I hurt inside, what have I done?
she wakes and sighs, we all need some one.
Chorus
Don’t let this moment leave us,
don’t run from love tonight.
Don’t let this moment leave us,
don’t let it pass us by.
Mid
I don’t want to hurt her,
I’m not that kind of guy.
I’m uncertain what I’m feeling,
she says give it time and…
Chorus
Don’t let this moment leave us,
don’t run from love tonight.
Don’t let this moment leave us,
don’t let it pass us by.

RECORDING NOTES
The original recording was on a Tascam 8 track, using my Ovation Celebrity cc57, we had bought the guitar when we (404) go the record deal, it was a way for me who at that time was principally an acoustic guitar player to play plugged into the mixing desk. I find that it has a harsh plastic sound to it and these days seldom use it but prefer to use my dad’s old Eko acoustic which I now have a Seymour Duncan Woody pick up for this purpose. Although when recording I like to mic up the guitar as to my ears it has a much better tone that way.
